OVERVIEW
As part of a semester-long project, I designed and branded a conceptual research institution that trains young girls to be magical fighters, and to become future defenders of the universe.
MagiTech is a corporation specializing in developing technology using harnessed magic from space. As part of their goal to further develop magic, MagiTech founded the research institution.

BRAND GUIDELINES
A major part of the project was putting together a cohesive brand that could be used across multiple deliverables. Many small decisions contributed to creating the guidelines.

INITIAL CONCEPT
Sailor Moon was a major inspiration for this project, as well as the magical girl genre in animated shows. It made me wonder, if young girls had the opportunity to break free of mundane routine and be apart of a greater purpose, would they take it? If the world needed defenders, who would take on the task?
In the initial concepts for the project, I drew many elements that closely resembled the original inspiration; pastel colors, cute companions and heart shaped wands.

During the development of my idea, I was challenged to go in a direction that was more personalized to me. The magical girl concept exists in a variety of medias, and all loosely follow the same visuals. I decided to explore something more high-tech, but still retaining the magical element in my project.

LOGO
When looking into how schools and universities brand themselves, I was drawn to the various mascot logos. Other university logos I observed incorporated shields, often seen a symbol of honor and prestige. I combined both of these elements for the logo.
